Figs are often dried. This not only increases their shelf life, but also the nutrient density of various nutrients, specifically calcium. ½ cup of dried figs provides almost the same amount of calcium as ½ cup of cow’s milk.
Figs are high in antioxidants and therefor have cancer fighting properties. Other benefits include assisting in heart health and preventing liver and kidney problems.
