Red, round and radiant
This week's neglected food is a root vegetable that reminds one of a beetroot or turnip. It was originally cultivated in China before also being used in Egypt and Greece. It made its way to England in the 1500s and America in the 1600s.
These little vegetables are available all year round and can reach maturity in only 20 days from seed. It is often used in salads, has a very distinctive taste and is classified in the mustard group. Do you know what it is?
