Good, better, BEETROOT!


Yesterday we looked at all the amazing health properties of beetroot and how much it can mean for our overall health.

Today we look at where beets can be used in our meals. Why don't you try out one (or more) of these ideas:

  • Combine BEETROOT with fruit like apples, pineapple or citrus (orange or lemon) and juice them all together for a fresh vegetable & fruit juice. Add ginger for extra flavour.

  • Combine cooked, raw BEETS with baby spinach (or regular spinach) or rocket in a salad and top off with some feta cheese.

  • Other salad combinations with BEETROOT include mixing them with radish, cucumber, carrots or cabbage.

  • It can be used to add flavour (and colour!) to stews and curries

  • Mix BEETROOT into your home made hummus to give it a vibrant purple colour

  • DID YOU KNOW? You can also use the BEETROOT GREENS as a food ingredient – yes, don’t just throw them away! Add them as a topping to homemade pizza or prepare it the same way you would do with spinach.
